Take time to be holy
Take time to be holy
William D. Longstaff, 1822-1894
Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord;
abide in him always, and feed on his word.
Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak,
forgetting in nothing his blessing to seek.Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;
spend much time in secret with Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus, like him thou shalt be;
thy friends in thy conduct his likeness shall see.Take time to be holy, let him be thy guide,
and run not before him, whatever betide.
In joy or in sorrow, still follow the Lord,
and, looking to Jesus, still trust in his word.Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul,
each thought and each motive beneath his control.
Thus led by his spirit to fountains of love,
thou soon shalt be fitted for service above.
abide in him always, and feed on his word.
Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak,

Lets take time this week to BE HOLY… The first phrase gives us the basis of what we ought to do to be holy:
- Abide in Him= Spend time with Him and obey Him
- Feed on His word= Have a daily devotional
- Make Friends of God’s children: Fellowship
- Help those who are weak= Practice the giving of time, resources and help to those in need and weak, just as Jesus did when He lived on Earth.
There’s no secret on how to become holy, on human terms of course (The only HOLY ONE Is Jesus.)
By spending time in the Word of God where we are taught how to live a godly life; By having a relationship with Him and not just getting fed ourselves like consumers, but by sharing the good by helping others in need.
Application:
I know it’s not easy, but make time to be holy. If you say you have no time, maybe turn off the tv, sign out from facebook, twitter, or anything that is distracting you. There is time! We just need to push aside all distractions and put God where He belongs, as first in our lives
