Peter, James, John, and Jesus
The human being was not created to be alone; We learn this in the very first book of the Bible: “ It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him” (Gen 2:18 NIV). And God did create company for Adam, even though I bet he had animals to have a really good conversation with. In spite of this God recognized that Adam was lonely.
Traveling a little farther away in history and arriving in Jesus’ time, the Bible mentions him praying many, many times. Have you noticed that Jesus was most of the time with Peter, James, and John? (Matthew 26:36-46 and Luke 22:39-46).
We could say they were Jesus best companions. I imagine Jesus could look at them and laugh at the same joke without saying a word. The Bible invite us to have friends that support us, our ways, and our beliefs; like Peter, James and, John did for Jesus. I have a friend and she is the epitome of what being a friend is. She is always there for me no matter the distance (from Puerto Rico to Idaho). We support each other and carry each other when we can no longer walk by ourselves.
Ask yourself, are you the friend that you want Jesus to provide to you?
Are you like Peter, James and, John?
Do you carry your friend in your prayers?
I love my friend and I will always pray for her and support her no matter what she needs. Friendship is about service and support, leaving your necessities aside to provide those in need.
Pray with me: Jesus, I thank you for my friend, for unifying our ways to find each other and to continue to support each other. I pray that he/she never feels less of what he/she can offer to overcome the deceitfulness of the enemy. Never let him/her feel she is not doing the cause you called us to do, never let her feel that she has no power because you are always behind your children when in need.
