Confront Your Fears
Have you found yourself at a crossroads in life where you do not know what else to do to get out of the uncertainty where you are? Well, if it has not touched you I congratulate you. You still have something to live for, because sooner or later it will be your turn to live it. For those who answered yes, I invite you to analyze your story.
As an adult I did not eat soup. I gave myself the task of finding the reason for this crossroads in my life since I did eat soup as a child and at one point I learned that maybe I had been through a trauma. Effectively; I remembered that when I was 6 or 7 years old, my father brought two pigeons to make pigeon soup since my mother felt unwell and the neighborhood voices said that it was a “miracle soup”. Well I gave myself the task of helping my dad, I remember how I plucked the pigeons and all the process that entails which I do not Get graphic with the event. However, my conscience never seemed to say that what we did was to eat. To make the short story short, sitting at the table I asked for the pigeons, to which the answer was to look at the soup. Yes, this event caused me to feel cheated and reject the soups for the rest of my days. I mean, I thought it was going to be for the rest of my days. As an adult I was able to overcome this event and consciously add soups to my diet. “But Milca, what’s all this sad story about the pigeon and the soup?” You ask.
Simple, many times we tie stones to our feet and we go through the world filling us with frustrations and fears, deceiving ourselves thinking that we will never overcome that trauma that we go through. We pretend that the grace of God does not cover us and we come to feel like martyrs and that we deserve everything that happens to us. I share this verse with you:
“Rather, the fast that I want is to untie the bonds of ungodliness, to let the burdens of oppression unleash, to set the oppressed at liberty, and to break every yoke! “- Isaiah 58: 6
My friend, we are all oppressed in one way or another. And Our Father wants us to be free, freedom that begins in our mind. Release the mental bonds, search within your being for the answers and pray to God to enlighten you in that search for the fears that you have to let go.
