Hanging by a Cliff
Last Friday I had this huge desire to go indoor rock climbing. I waited for it all week, like a kid does for Christmas.
I was so excited and happy when I got there, but that didn’t last very long… By the time I was hanging by a cliff, I started thinking, “what if my husband doesn’t hold the rope properly and I fall?!”
And in less than 5 seconds a paralizing fear started crippling in and I just gave up. When I came down my husband said” I wasn’t going to let you fall”. But that gave me no peace, fear still got the best of me.
I tried once again and I also stood paralyzed, but this time it wasn’t in fear but in awe of God’s lesson. As I hanged there, God whispered to my heart saying, you react in fear when you are hanging at life’s cliffs. You need to trust that I hold your precious life in my hands.
At that moment everything and everyone seized to exist, I was syncing the lesson and discipline of God. Of how in the midst of uncertainty, the unknown, the unemployment, and the changes, I am hanging on to fear instead of trusting that God will we be holding me at the end of the rope. He will not let me fall into the void, and He will not let you fall either.
Let’s trust, praise, and seek Jesus at all times no matter our circumstance. And let’s be real that easier said than done, but it truly is possible. It is through communion with God in an attitude of repentance that we find peace, joy, and direction in the midst of life’s crazy cliffs.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7
The next time you find yourself giving up, tired, with bruised legs, and bruised ego at a life’s cliff
Don’t give up,
Try again to reach the next rock to hang on to.
Remember that no matter what happens, God will be there to hold us if we fall.
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Debt 31:6
